Pilates VS. Yoga: The Benefits and Differences Between Both with Theresa Carter

This week on Balance Your Life I am joined by Theresa Carter. Theresa is a Certified Mat Pilates Instructor, Reformer Trained and Integrated Movement Therapist – Body Harmonics & Second Wind (Pure Pilates). She is also certified in Yin Yoga, Restorative yoga, Reiki Level II and is a 250-hour certified yoga teacher. Pilates and Yoga led Theresa to discover a fascination of healing the physical body through mindful, fluid motion. She has been teaching Pilates since 2008 and loves the simple pleasures of life such as a cup of tea, or sitting by the lake hearing the waves. You can find her either by the lake or in the trees on her spare time. On this episode we discuss how she came to Pilates after suffering with scoliosis, how Pilates is similar to certain yoga styles but also has its differences, and why having an intention in a Pilates and Yoga class is so important. We also discuss why practicing a softer side of yoga is so complimentary to having a physical practice, the benefits of both yoga and Pilates, and so much more!
