From Overwhelm and Negative Thoughts to Finding Happiness and Purpose through Ashtanga Yoga and Mindset Work with Rachelle Shelton

This week on Balance Your Life I am joined by Rachelle Shelton. Rachel was first introduced to yoga when she was 15 at her local gym but didn't commit to a yoga practice until her mid-20s when she met her teacher Erin Evans while living in Banff, Alberta. Rachelle fell in love with the physically demanding and mentally demanding practice of Ashtanga yoga and Ashtanga inspired Vinyasa Flow. A physical yoga practice allowed Rachelle to detach herself from thought and find a sense of peace that nothing else had ever given her. This revelation is what inspired her to take her yoga teacher training in 2017. Rachelle loves to teach yoga because yoga taught her that there is so much more possible for us if we show and believe, and more importantly, yoga teaches us that we are not our thoughts, and we can find freedom from negative and limiting thoughts if we choose. On this episode we talk about how taking a yoga class brought her peace and happiness when she was absolutely miserable in her life. Ashtanga yoga; what it is and how you can benefit from this specific style of yoga, why Ashtanga might be a good fit for you if you are looking to push yourself out of your comfort zone, the mindset you need as a beginner. If you are really unhappy and struggling in life, this is definitely an episode you want to listen to and see the massive changes made through yoga and mindset work.
